On April 1, Elon Musk announced that Tesla’s new CYBERTRACTOR will be built in our hometown of Aberdeen, SD.
After lots of discussion about what would happen to the The former Molded Fiberglass building, it’s exciting to hear that the site will be retrofitted to become Gigafactory South Dakota! Once completed, the world’s newest Gigafactory will produce up to 10 Cybertractors per day.
The new all-electric tractor is bulletproof, self-driving, and equipped with the latest precision ag technology and Starlink satellite internet.
Musk also plans to develop a Mars variant for SpaceX, which will be unveiled at Grand Farm’s Space Ag Conference on April 14.
It’s juuuuuust possible that we made this up, but it’s not as farfetched as it might seem. The agriculture, aviation and transportation industries are seeing incredible advances in autonomy and alternative fuels. Companies like John Deere, Case IH, Tesla and Joby Aviation are investing untold millions into development and manufacturing of these new technologies right here in the USA. And cities like Aberdeen, SD are well-positioned to benefit from these investments.
Today is a perfect time to reimagine what’s possible, and start new conversations about how we can work together attract innovation and investment to our region.
